Well here is my story about the included pictures and videos.
I was driving home from my friend Carl’s house about 10:30 on Friday night, when I luckily saw this dog in my lane of traffic on the very busy Baseline Road close to power. The dog was running fast and swerving between my lane and the oncoming traffic. I don’t know how she was not hit.
I turned on my flashers and flashed my headlights, but still had a feeling that it was going to turn out very bad because of all the traffic. She ran almost from Power to Higley on Baseline (About 2 miles,) where I cut her off with the car and she turned around and ran another mile back to Recker. I kept stopping and opening my door, to try to get her in, sometimes in the middle of the street, but she would have nothing to do with me.
She finally found a place in a fence she could go under. It was commercial property, (A large western dinner theater property,) and went in. I tried and tried to entice here out. I put out water in an Emergency fold up water bowl I keep in my car, because she looked in pretty bad shape, and I was sure she was super dehydrated. She was so afraid of me that she would not even come to the water even though I kept backing off.
This was her inside the fence. I was zoomed in because she kept quite a way from me.

She did keep trying to get out of the fenced area but the only way out was the way in, which came right out onto Baseline, which would have been the end for her. So I sat down on the sidewalk right by the opening. I sat there and sat there. I don’t know how long but the whole ordeal was just under 1 hour.
I think what happened was there was a Guard dog (a German Shepard) on the property that finally saw her and started heading toward her. So she ran for the hole under the fence and I grabbed her, not wanting her to get to Baseline and all the traffic. She DID NOT like me attacking her, and she let me know it. She started biting my hands, hard !!! She was very frightened and I just could not get my hands out of the way, but did not want to let go and see her get hit.
The pictures are from 4 days later and does not show how bad it looked the night of or for the previous 3 days. I had so much blood coming out I looked like I had been in a knife fight. I could not figure out how to hold her without her biting me. Not only the holes she made but there was lots of swelling from the blunt force of her jaws where she didn’t break the skin.
The swelling has gone done a lot. For awhile I could not make a fist in either hand.
I didn’t take picture of my hands that night because I was in a lot of pain. I was surprised at how much it hurt. Below is blood that was on just one of my knees from my hands. As I said, blood was everywhere.
Once I got her held where she could not bite me. I just stayed that way for a while, Still bleeding pretty good. Lots of cars going by and not one stopped. ???? Then once she calmed down, put her in the passenger seat of my car and she just stayed there looking at me. I drove home and put her in the kitchen and set up a pen area for her. She was very sweet, and I am sure the only reason she was biting me was because I basically attacked her pretty rough to keep her out of the street.
She was totally matted to where all the fur on her was pulling every time she moved. There were spots on her neck that when she turned her head, you could see the skin from her body being pulled.
So the next day I went to the Dr and had to get shots and antibiotic pills and creams. That was a long and costly process.
Then after the Dr for me, it was her turn. Much the same, shots and such. The Vet said, she was most likely a Schnoodle about 2 and 1/2 years old. She weighs 12 lbs. and has possibly never had her nails clipped and it had been several months if ever since she was combed or clipped. I guess she has not been spayed, which will be another ordeal to go through.
We bathed her several times, because the Vet said the best thing for Flees and Ticks is to bathe them in Dawn dish soap. He said, it was almost as good as the most expensive medicines. But the vet did give her a biscuit that would kill any Flees and Ticks in 12 to 24 hours. That made us feel a lot better. We don’t really have Flee and Tick problems here, but she has been out running loose for who knows how long, so we will keep washing her a lot. :-)
The next day it was to the groomer for her. They worked on her for a few hours then said it was all they could do in one day. They said to give her a break for a day then they would try to finish. They got her body mostly, but not the head or legs. They would not even take any money. They said, they wanted to wait to see if they could finnish her. But I of course will pay them for their efforts whether they can or not.
The spot on her back is after Kim and I worked on her for about 1/2 hour trying to cut the matted hair away.
Below is a “Video" of how matted her hair was.
Below is a picture of me picking her up at the groomer. She looks 100% better and is such I nice Furry Kid. I am not sure what to do with her. Maybe one of our snowbirds will adopt her. I would only let her go to someone that I knew would treat her like we would which might be hard to find. But when we RV many of the parks have 2 Furry Children as the Maximum. So it will be a problem if we can’t find a loving home for her that would give her the best chance at a long happy life. But we will see want happens.
When they finish grooming her face and feet she is going to be really cute. She follows me everywhere and sits right at my feet. She has only gone inside 1 time in 4 days, and that was on Pee-Pads when we had to go away for several hours with friends.
Well thats the story. :-)
